Book a gutter clean

Tell us roughly how many trees overhang the house, and whether it is one story or two.

How Soon Do You Need Our Services?

No pressure, no obligation. We never share your details.

Cleared by hand

Not blown out. A blower puts the debris on your roof and in your beds and proves nothing.

Flushed and checked

Water run through every run and every downspout, so we both watch it drain properly.

Photographed if we find something

A pulled bracket or soft fascia gets shown to you, not quietly written into a bigger quote.

The Problem

When should gutters actually be cleared in Ohio?

After the leaves are down and before the ground freezes. The back half of November.

Get the timing right and this is routine work with no consequences at all. Get it wrong and the gutter goes into December still packed. Meltwater has nowhere to go. What forms instead is ice: heavy enough to drag the brackets loose, and stubborn enough to force water back up under the shingles. The leaves were only the cause. The ice is the damage.

  • Flushed afterwards so we can watch it actually drain
  • Every downspout elbow checked, not just the gutter
Gutter Cleaning in Dayton

Why Us

Cleared before the freeze, not after it

The autumn clear is the one that matters here. It is also the cheapest full look at your roof edges that anyone gets, and we photograph whatever we find up there.

01

By hand, then flushed

A blower puts most of the debris onto your roof and into the beds, and it tells you nothing at all about whether water actually leaves.

02

The elbow is the blockage

Nearly everyone scoops the leaves and stops there. The blockage causing the overflow is usually in the elbow at the bottom of the downspout.

03

We look while we are up

If a bracket has pulled or the fascia has gone soft we photograph it and tell you. That is a conversation for another day, not an upsell on the ladder.

The Difference

Why the timing matters more than the technique

Clearing gutters is simple work. Doing it in the wrong month is what costs money. A gutter that goes into December still packed with wet leaves cannot take meltwater. The ice that forms is heavy enough to tear the brackets out, and stubborn enough to force water back up under the shingles.

So the useful window here is after leaf fall and before the ground freezes, roughly the back half of November. A January visit is tidying up after damage that has already been done.

We run a regular autumn round through Huber Heights, because the street trees planted with the houses in 1956 are now seventy years old.

How It Works

How a gutter clearing runs

An hour or two, and you get told what we saw up there.

  1. 1

    Cleared by hand, bagged

Debris comes off the roof with us rather than onto the lawn or into the flower beds.

  2. 2

    Every downspout checked

The blockage causing an overflow is usually in the elbow at the bottom, invisible from the ground.

  3. 3

    The whole run flushed

Water put through it so we can watch it drain, which is the only real test there is.

  4. 4

We tell you what we saw

Brackets, fascia, the state of the shingles at the roof edge. Photographed, with no obligation attached.

What Dayton homeowners say

We had a leak over the back bedroom for almost two years and kept putting a bucket under it. The team found the problem in about ten minutes. It turned out to be the flashing around the chimney, not the shingles. They fixed it that same afternoon. I wish we had called sooner.

We had a full tear-off on our 1950s ranch. The crew arrived at 7 every morning and finished the job in three days. They even swept the entire driveway with a magnetic roller so our kids wouldn't pick up any nails. The final price was exactly what we were quoted.

After the hail last June, our insurance company questioned whether the damage was from the storm or simply the age of the roof. The team inspected everything, took detailed photos, and joined the call with our adjuster. The claim was approved. I don't think we would have managed it on our own.

Good work at a fair price. I gave four stars because our job had to be pushed back a week due to rain, and I had already taken the day off. They did call ahead and kept us informed instead of simply not showing up, which I appreciated.

A tree came down on our garage roof at around nine at night. Someone actually answered the phone, which I wasn't expecting. They had the roof tarped before midnight and came back the following week for the permanent repair. Great response when we needed help.

We had new seamless gutters and gutter guards installed around the whole house. They made the gutters right there on site, which I hadn't seen before. We've had two heavy storms since the installation and nothing has overflowed onto the patio. That was exactly the problem we wanted fixed.

I booked a roof inspection expecting to hear that we needed a full replacement because that's what the previous two companies told us. After inspecting it, they said our roof probably had about five years left and told us to call back when the time came. They didn't charge us for the inspection. That honesty is why they'll get the job when we eventually replace it.

This is the second time we've used them. They installed our gutters a couple of years ago, and we recently hired them again for a full roof replacement. We even had the same crew leader both times. The quote was clearly itemized, so we could see exactly what we were paying for, including the wood underneath repairs.

More about Gutter Cleaning in Dayton

Timing is most of the value

The clearing itself is simple work. Choosing when to do it is where the value sits, and in this climate there is a right answer. Once the leaves are down and before the ground freezes. Around here that means the back half of November.

Miss that window and the gutter goes into winter holding wet debris. Twenty-three inches of snow falls between November and March, and meltwater cannot get past the blockage. What began as a leaf problem becomes an ice problem. It is heavy enough to pull brackets out of the wood, and stubborn enough to push water back under the shingles. That is how it ends up as ice at the roof edge. Clearing gutters in January is tidying up after something that has already happened.

What a proper clearing includes

Debris out by hand rather than blown out, because a blower puts most of it onto your roof and into the beds. Then we flush the whole gutter with water so we can watch it drain, and check every downspout. A blockage in the bend at the bottom is the most common thing we find, and you cannot see it from the ground.

We look while we are up there, too. A gutter clean is the cheapest close look at your roof edges that anyone gets. If a bracket has pulled loose, or the board behind has gone soft, we photograph it and tell you. That is a repair conversation for another day, not an upsell on the ladder.

Whether to do it yourself

It is genuinely doable on a single-story ranch if you have a stable ladder and somebody footing it. It is not worth doing on a two-story house. The people who get hurt doing this are almost always on a ladder set on soft ground, leaning out to reach one more foot instead of climbing down and moving it.

If you would rather not do it again, guards turn it into a job you do every few years instead of every year. They do not end it.

Frequently asked questions

How much should a gutter clean cost?

It is the cheapest thing on this site, well under the $438 that marks the bottom of our roof repair range. The price depends on the size of the house and whether it is one story or two. Two-story with awkward access costs more because of time on the ladder, not because of the debris.

What is the little known trick for cleaning gutters?

Flush after you clear, and watch the downspout while you do it. Nearly everyone scoops the leaves out and stops there. The blockage actually causing the overflow is usually sitting in the bend at the bottom of the downspout, where you cannot see it.

Can I just blow the gutters out?

You can, and it is quick, but it puts the debris onto the roof and into the beds and it tells you nothing about whether the gutter drains. We clear by hand and flush, because the point is to confirm that water leaves, not that leaves left.

Is it worth paying for on a single-story house?

Honestly, not always. With a stable ladder, someone to foot it and no mature trees overhead, it is a morning's work. Pay for it when the house is two-story, when access is awkward, or when you want someone looking properly at the fascia and brackets while they are up there.
