West Carrollton sits on the Great Miami River corridor, and that shapes what fails here. Forty-one inches of rain a year has to go somewhere. The town was laid out in 1830 as Carrollton and renamed because too much post was going to the other Carrollton in Ohio. At one point it carried five kinds of transport: train, canal, riverboat, trolley and car. That is why the older houses sit closer to the water than you would expect.
